How to Use BigCoder Whois to Find Domain Owner Details
Step 1 — Access BigCoder Whois
Go to BigCoder Whois’s lookup page (assume the web tool or site is available).
Step 2 — Enter the domain
Type the full domain name (example: example.com) into the search box. Do not include protocols (no https://) or paths.
Step 3 — Choose lookup type (if available)
Select WHOIS lookup for registrar/registration details. If there’s an option for “historic WHOIS” or “RDAP,” pick based on whether you need past records or standardized machine-readable data.
Step 4 — Run the query
Click the search/lookup button. Wait a few seconds for results.
Step 5 — Read key WHOIS fields
- Registrar: Company managing the domain registration.
- Registrant name/organization: Owner or organization listed (may be privacy-protected).
- Registrant contact: Email and phone if public.
- Registered on / Expiry date: Registration and expiration timestamps.
- Name servers: DNS servers authoritative for the domain.
- Status: Domain status codes (e.g., clientTransferProhibited).
Step 6 — Interpret privacy/proxy entries
If fields show a privacy service or generic proxy contact, the actual owner is hidden. Use registrar contact or abuse/contact email to reach domain admin.
Step 7 — Use RDAP or raw WHOIS for more detail
If BigCoder offers RDAP or raw WHOIS output, view that to see standardized contact objects, event history, and linkable URIs.
Step 8 — Follow-up actions
- Contact registrar using their WHOIS-abuse email for legal or abuse issues.
- DNS check: Verify name servers and run a DNS lookup to confirm hosting.
- Archive/history: Use historic WHOIS or the Wayback Machine to investigate past ownership.
Troubleshooting
- No results: Domain not registered or lookup blocked by rate limits—try again later or use another WHOIS provider.
- Partial data: Many registrars redact personal data due to privacy laws (e.g., GDPR). Use registrar-level contacts.
- Rate limits / CAPTCHAs: Use API access or spaced queries.
Privacy and legal notes
WHOIS data may be incomplete due to privacy regulations; use provided registrar contacts for official requests and follow applicable laws when attempting to identify owners.
